Tagged and Bagged: Languishing, redesign, Site, theme, website
That’s the term that I’ll use for this website status. Its been languishing. Is that not a better term than neglected? Ignored?
I wish that I could say that I was doing wonderful and awesome things in the world, but I’m just plugging along. This site has suffered, as a result.
I think that its time for a code overhaul and a redesign (even if its a slight one). This theme has not had any serious structural changes since about the WP 2.6 time. A lot of functionality has crept into the code and I should take advantage of it. Don’t expect any radical visual changes though (but its about time I got the nested comments set up…)
Back to languishing…
I do a site overhaul every year, thinking that I’ll add a bunch of new and exciting things … until reality creeps in. I always keep a RSS feed of your site, just in case
Happy refactoring.
Mine could stand a redesign too. Needs an upgrade too. Just don’t see it happening right away though.
Not being a regular writer is a big factor in why blogs often go into a comatose state which I think describes my blog as well on occasion.
In fact, writing feeds off itself. The more you write, the more you find things to write about.
Unfortunately writing about anything bores me these days. I feel blogging randomly lacks the artistic touch and I consider that whenever I create something, it should have some merit or attractive quality.
I prefer to write articles and even then I need to find a topic sufficiently entertaining enough to put effort into. I have been busy with my law course as well in my final semester, so maybe my mind is not so receptive or free enough to pursue my hobbies.
I’ve been thinking of a re-design also….
Languish away Corey..
@hari – I’ve seen a few things pop up on your site lately. The only beef I have with it is that I cannot understand Tamil (which I could remedy with a lot of study) and there doesn’t seem to be any automatic translator out there to badly translate what you have written. Keep that up! You’re getting replies, which means that its interesting.
One of the Tamil articles is a rough translation of an English article I had written some time ago. It was the article on defamation (with an emphasis on online blogging).
The newer one is on Intellectual property law and traditional knowledge.
Tamil is a tough language even for native speakers because the written form is quite formal and bound by a lot of rules. However, most tamil writers use the spoken form these days even in writing. I try my best to stay formal because spoken Tamil just feels sloppy in writing.
