I was looking through some (very) old emails and stumbled across a few that I got from a joke site that I had subscribed to the newsletter of. Its since been taken down and the site has a pay-per-click search engine set up by some domain squatter. I just couldn’t leave this one in storage any longer. If you wrote this, let me know, so I can attribute it to you:

A sister and brother are talking to each other when the little boy
gets up and walks over to his Grandpa and says, “Grandpa, please
make a frog noise.”

The Grandpa says, “No.”

The little boy goes on, “Please…please make a frog noise.”

The Grandpa says, “No, now go play.”

The little boy then says to his sister, “Go tell Grandpa to make a
frog noise.”

So the little girl goes to her Grandpa and says, “Please make a
frog noise.”

The Grandpa says, “I just told your brother ‘no’ and I’m telling you ‘no’.”

The little girl says, “Please…please Grandpa make a frog noise.”

The Grandpa says, “Why do you want me to make a frog noise?”

The little girl replied, “Because mommy said when you croak we can go to
Disney World!”

Damn! Its -34°C outside right now. If the wind blows, it feels like -42°C. I thought that was a temperature reserved for places like Winnipeg.  I don’t like this, especially since our place is heated with electricity and the power flickered about an hour ago.

What is up with the buzz phrase, “Economic Downturn“? Does it seem less like a recession or depression if we call it some “PC” phrase? My pockets are still empty. A spade is a spade. Call it that!

Jeez! On the news, I just heard that bullshit phrase 4 more times while typing this (extremely short) post. WTF!!!

Every year, our workplace replaces the old calendars with new.  They come from the Dairy Producers of the country.  Every year, upon receipt of my new calendar, I see new recipes and want to EAT them right away! Check out the recipes! Your mouth will water, too! Yum!

I had noticed that my computer was running hotter than I thought that it should. So, since I had some work to do on it anyway, I popped the side off and did what I had to do. I have an “experienced” PC, which I frankensteined together from what I had available. Its reasonably good, with an AMD XP2500+ Barton processor, which will overclock to 2.2Ghz stable (which I don’t do,as I don’t like the temps). I took out a dead drive and unplugged the floppy drive which wasn’t working anyway.

What probably made the biggest difference, though, was when I cleaned the dust out of the CPU heatsink under the fan. The fins were clogged with dust. The temperature went down 6°C by doing that.

Don’t forget to vacuum out the dust bunnies once in a while. Your computer will thank you by not frying.

As a start to the new year online, I decided to try the Firefox 3.1 beta 2 and see if the “awesome bar” piece of crap “improvement” on a functional address bar would be faster. So far so good. When I begin to type something, it doesn’t hang for ten seconds after the third letter. That’s a good sign.
