I’ve upgraded this site to use the March 30, 2007 Nightly build of WordPress (2.2 Bleeding Edge). Something in the code has caused incompatibilities with the Ultimate Tag Warrior Plug in. So, this is the most recent version that will work. This is the first move since I “upgraded” to the 2.2 builds on March 7.
Let me know if the site behaves differently. BTW, 2.2 should be out later this month – around the 21st or so – providing show stoppers like the UTW breakage is fixed.
It
Seems
to
be
working
OK
.
Cute
My quicktags don’t work right in the upgrade I did Corey. Not sure what version- lol
I’m glad someone’s living on the bleeding edge. It ain’t gonna be me.
Have you seen the CLI option Corey?
Take a look at http://os42.com/index.php?wptheme=CLI and see what you think.
I think it might be something you like
I played with that one, but I don’t think that the average visitor could get around with that one. I see that you’ve been quite prolific with your writing in the last few days. The darks in your site design remind me that this computer needs a new monitor!
I agree Corey. It’s a neat site and all, but not very user friendly.
It’s like blogging taking a step backward.
A few questions Corey, and others. I am getting alot of spamming on my blog with regard to medicines. What is the best way to battle these posts. How do I add such options to my blog?
And on another front, working with email addresses on my domain, how do I make it possible for the indsividula users to chagne their email password while still retaining admin access to change it.
Dan,
Try using Bad Behavior, Spam Karma 2, or Akismet to battle the spam. They’re all good plugins that work quite well. I use a combination of Bad Behavior and moderating the first post to keep the spam off the front page. I’ve also been going into cPanel and entering the IP addresses of spamming computers to a IP deny list (that’s the list in my sidebar, displayed with a small plugin called myQuote). I know that by outrightly denying IP addresses access to my site, I could be banning access to legitimate people, but I figure that if they won’t keep the trojans off their computer then they don’t need to be on my part of the net until they get rid of them.
@Corey
People have to go and click on it to use it from http://os42.com but just something different nevertheless.
That’s why it isn’t the default option
@Dan Timon
Fully agree with Corey here: Akismet takes care of all the SPAM for me and does it with no help from any other plugins. On one site I run, it picked up 26,000 in one week. Gave me quite a shock when I opened the logs and realised they had been trying so hard.
re: the email question – say what?
@Dan If you want your users to be able to change their email on their profile, its as simple as that. They just need to log in and then click on the “profile” tab. Once there, they merely have to change their email address and click the update button. I know this because I am Corey (the monster) who was signed up with one email addy and then changed it. Now, I’ll be off to the nether, as I (as monster) do not need to be around any longer.
